Giving Tuesday – Educate a Syrian Child

Dear Jusoor Family,

Last year, thanks to your support we made a tremendous impact on the lives of Syrian children and youth — giving them the chance in life that every child deserves.  We enabled 1,250 refugee children in Lebanon to receive a basic education.  We awarded nearly 150 university scholarships. And we employed 47 Syrian refugees as teachers in our Lebanese schools, supporting and safeguarding Syria’s labor force.

We invite you to join us in sustaining the work of Jusoor on a global day of philanthropy and generosity.

$50 pays for a Syrian refugee to go to school for a month

$600 pays the monthly salary of one of our teachers in Lebanon, who are Syrian refugees themselves

$2,500 pays for a student in Lebanon or Jordan to go to university for a year

Any amount you donate is welcome and appreciated.

“With more than half of the 4 million Syrian refugees under the age of 18, there is a pressing need to focus on their educational opportunities,” said Laurie Brand, Chair of the Committee on Academic Freedom at the Middle East Studies Association on presenting its 2015 Academic Freedom Award to Jusoor last week.

“Jusoor has responded to the humanitarian crisis with effective outreach and programs that engage a generous volunteer base and are making a real difference in the lives of young Syrians… Colleagues of ours who are familiar with Jusoor uniformly characterized it as the most professional and effective of the NGOs assisting Syrian refugees with pursuing their education.”

Every year, the global community celebrates charities, volunteers, and good causes on December 1st through a campaign named Giving Tuesday. It is the opening day of the giving season; a day to share commitments, rally for favorite causes, and think about others.
