Day 3: Friday 19 July, 2019
As long as the children have fun – this is the focus of the Summer Program that Jusoor wishes to emphasise. To swamp the children with great memories was key.
What a worthwhile experience! Today marks the third day of orientation, my head is filled with a plethora of knowledge gained from the past few days and my heart is filled with admiration and love.
Today we visited Jarrahia camp and participated in some potential activities we could run with the kids. Despite these activities being designed for an age range of seven to 13, I admit I enjoyed myself a little too much. My cheeks ache from the laughter and smiles shared with the Jusoor teachers and fellow volunteers.
Meeting our co-teachers was certainly a highlight. The vast experience, passion and energy that radiates from them blows me away. It is a privilege and an honour to work alongside them.
Come Monday, I will be thrown into the deep end to teach a class of eager learners. I will be teaching self-defense and despite admittedly feeling a little overwhelmed with the responsibility, Jusoor has prepared me beyond expectation and I feel ready and excited to meet my class and begin this epic journey.
