Since 2012, Jusoor’s Scholarship Program has extended educational opportunities to Syrian students around the globe, enabling them to rebuild Syria through synergy of their unique talents and to serve as ambassadors in their host communities. We are:

  • Holistic – Bridging the educational gap for Syrians studying at all levels, from high school to postgraduate
  • Responsive – Designing program strategy to adapt to the changing scene of international education funding, ensuring traditionally underserved groups are included
  • Self-Sustaining – Asking every Jusoor scholar to repay a percentage of their award in order to help fund future scholarships

The scholarships in this section are currently accepting applications. To view information for a specific scholarship please see that scholarship’s page. To receive all updates on scholarship application openings please subscribe to our newsletter.

We are always looking to expand our growing base of high school, university, NGO, and research institution partners around the globe. If you are interested in hosting a student or would like to collaborate with us on other scholarship-related projects, please contact us.

These scholarships were offered for a limited number of years to meet a specific need and have been discontinued. Although they will not be reopening for applications, the legacy of their alumni lives on to inspire fellow Syrian students and contribute to Syria’s redevelopment.

Do you have a question about our scholarships? Before writing to us, please carefully read the below frequently asked questions:

Does Jusoor award scholarships to students studying in a program at Syrian academic institution?

No, Jusoor does not work inside Syria. We are an international NGO with the mission of investing in Syria’s youth for a better tomorrow. Our educational opportunities are for Syrian children and youth outside of Syria.

Is there an age limit to apply to Jusoor’s scholarships?

No, although our mission focuses on Syrian youth, we welcome applicants of all ages and have awarded several scholarships to middle-aged students. None of our scholarships has an age limit.

I have been accepted to a university. Could you help to fund my costs?

No, we, unfortunately, do not have the capacity to offer any funding outside of our regular calls for applications, including assistance with tuition and fees, visa fees, flights, medical insurance, and/or living stipends. Please subscribe to our newsletter on this page and follow us on Facebook to be notified of all scholarship openings. We also recommend you check Al-Fanar, Marj3, and IIE PEER for opportunities.

Do Jusoor scholarships cover visa fees or English exam costs?

No, we do not cover these costs under any of our scholarships. We recommend checking with IIE PEER since they have offered grants for these costs in the past.

I would like to pursue an academic degree but I’m not sure which field of study to choose. Could Jusoor help me to choose?

Although our Scholarship Program does not offer this guidance, we can match you with a mentor through our Academic Mentorship Program who can assist you.

Could you help me to apply to a university?

Our Academic Mentorship Program mentors also help with applications to universities around the world.

Could Jusoor assist me or my family in the resettlement process or provide visa sponsorship?

No, as an NGO we cannot provide such assistance and suggest you contact UNHCR regarding all resettlement and sponsorship matters.

Do you accept volunteers and interns for the Scholarship Program? Are these opportunities paid?

Yes, from time to time we post volunteer and intern vacancies to our Career section when we have such opportunities available. Volunteers and interns generally give several hours of their time per week to help with administrative tasks or organizing special events such as fundraisers. Please check the section for all updated postings. You may also subscribe to our newsletter at the above link to be notified of all new opportunities.

Compensation for any position will be outlined in its posting in the Career section. In general, opportunities are unpaid and do not offer assistance with flights, living costs, or accommodation. In all cases we are glad to provide you with a letter of recommendation upon successful completion of the position and can cooperate with your academic institution in case you would like to apply the experience towards course credit.

Do you offer scholarships for students studying medicine?

It depends. Although we do not have a scholarship specifically for those studying medicine, some of our scholarships are eligible for a wide variety of fields. Because the fields of study eligible can change, we recommend you check the page of the specific scholarship in which you are interested–all of which are listed on this main page.

I have not started my program of study. Would you recommend I take some courses in Syria before applying to a scholarship in order to be a stronger candidate?

Most of our scholars did not take courses in Syria before applying to our scholarships. In general, we recommend that you have a strong GPA from any previous academic degrees you have completed, in addition to having volunteered and/or work experience relevant to your intended field of study.

Do you offer scholarships for those who are graduating or have just graduated high school?

Yes, please take a look at the different scholarships listed on this page to identify which opportunity is best for the bachelor degree you intend to pursue.

Do you offer scholarships for PhD (doctoral) programs?
No, we, unfortunately, do not have the capacity to offer any funding for doctoral programs.

I’m a student doing research related to scholarships for Syrians. Could you distribute my survey to your scholars?

No, we do not have the capacity to share such surveys with our scholars. However, we would glad to personally answer any questions you might have about our program if you contact us at the e-mail at the bottom of this page.
