Mark Asmar is an eight-year-old boy from Damascus, Syria. After two of his cousins were severely injured by a missile attack on their school in 2014, Mark has dedicated himself to helping Syrian children through his music. On April 13th, 2015 Mark recorded his performance of Chopin’s Nocturne in C Sharp Minor with the goal of raising $10,000 for Jusoor.

A Letter From Mark
My name is Mark Asmar and I am 8 years old. On April 15, 2014 my first cousins’ school in Damascus, Syria was hit by mortar attacks and both cousins were immediately taken to the hospital and one of them underwent an exploratory surgery to remove a shrapnel from his lungs and abdomen. Because of what happened that day, I decided that I want to do something to help the Syrian kids.
I hope that my music will tell you what I can’t explain in words, that’s why I’m dedicating this piece of music to the Syrian kids. I worked very hard to get it done. Every time I felt frustrated I looked at the pictures of Syrian kids that were placed on my piano and they gave me the determination to do it!! If you like it, please donate to one of these organizations. I’m planning on collecting $10,000 dollars. Your donation can make a difference! Any donation is welcomed.

We are so proud of Mark and very grateful for his support of Jusoor.
