Dear Jusoor Friends and Family,
As the students are preparing for their exams in our three schools in Lebanon, and recruitment is underway for our summer volunteer program, a new project is coming to fruition in our Jeb Jennine Center in the Bekaa Valley.
A playground for refugee children in Lebanon
With support from Chalhoub Group, we partnered with the non-for-profit design studio Catalytic Action, to build a playground for the 700 children who study at the school annually!
According to Caritas Lebanon the Syrian crisis has highly impacted children’s mental well-being. Educational spaces, such as schools and playgrounds have a fundamental role for children to create social networks, improve their behaviour, and partially heal psychological trauma they might have experienced.
A playground has the power to answer some of the main needs of children to better cope with the situation. It has the power to be a space for education; a space for stress release and where children can develop their creativity and imagination; a space much needed in a context where child development is challenged by the effects of a war and displacement. We are very happy about this project. To learn more about it click here!
