This summer, Jusoor is joining forces with the Sanad Entrepreneurship Academy to train small-business owners across Jordan, supporting Syrians and Jordanians to grow their businesses during the COVID-19 Pandemic!

The Small Business Accelerator offers free online training to reliable business know-how and tools for digital marketing, SME operations, and management for local Jordanian and Syrian businesses and entrepreneurs.

About Jusoor’s Small Business Program

The Jusoor Small Business Accelerator consists of a month-long online workshop and two months of business coaching, alongside in-kind funding, and access to investment opportunities, concluding with a Demo Day. The program includes training and mentorship sessions with seasoned professionals from global and regional business growth programs. The program will run virtually across Jordan.

Competition Phases

1. Apply

Fill out the following form before August 25th to join the program from anywhere in the Kingdom.

2. Selections & Interviews

Jusoor will select Small Buinsesses to participate in the program by August 30th.

3. SME Bootcamp

A month of training will start on September 5th. Participants will receive coaching to grow your businesses by advancing your skills in marketing, operations, and finance.

4. Business Accelerator

Participants will receive mentorship to help grow their businesses from dedicated experts in their local industry between October 4th- November 30th (8 weeks).

5. Demo day

Where the top businesses will get to present their business in front of investors, banks, and various support organizations in Jordan on December 1st.

6. Joining the Jusoor alumni network

Upon graduation, all participants will be part of the Jusoor alumni network where they will get access to the latest opportunities and resources to grow your business.

Selection Criteria

What are our selection criteria?

Each year Jusoor trains Syrian and local businesses through our Entrepreneurship Programs. We only select the most motivated and dedicated applicants, who will be admitted to the program by August 30th. The individual entrepreneur is vital to the potential success and impact of the company. Applicants will need to meet the following criteria:

1. Eligible Businesses

  • Based in Jordan.
  • Business must be viable and is 6 months – 2 years old (Both registered and unregistered businesses are able to join the program).
  • Business Owners must have expertise and knowledge in their industry and show the motivation and skills needed to grow their business.
  • Businesses must be dealing with legally allowed goods and/or services.
  • Business must already have an existent Product/Service which provides a solution to the community needs.

2. Selection Criteria

Selection will focus on Syrians and vulnerable host community members who have the greatest chance of succeeding in their respective businesses, and the greatest commitment to the business. both the owners skills and their company will be rated in this round in various aspects:

Economic Impact

  • Potential viability of the business model.
  • Potentially profitable business.
  • Connectivity to the local needs and context.
  • Commercial- and market perspectives.

Innovation

  • Does the business idea bring something new to the Jordanian market.
  • How feasible is the innovation.

Entrepreneur

  • Knowledge of the market.
  • Commitment and willingness to take risks.
  • Ambition and grounded potential to grow their business in Jordan.
  • Relevant expertise with entrepreneurship and/or sector of the business idea.

Business Model

  • Clarity; SMEs which promote clear and simple business models can better communicate their needs and adjust their business during our program.
  • Stability;Is this a business that addresses a genuine need or customer demand? Does the idea have some market stability over time?
  • Scalability; Is the SME capable of being scaled? Can it be duplicated with consistency, meet continuous standards, and be replicated in such a way that it can be produced and produced again without constantly being reinvented or adjusted?
  • Coherence; Often ideas and prototypes are wonderful in their own right, but outliers in the organizational strategy may not receive the organizational support necessary to sustain the viability of the effort.
  • Profitability; Is the current SME profit/cost structure has the potential and revenue opportunities to grow?

Additional points

  • You’ll receive extra points if your business is in the Agricultural or Food industry in Jordan, or solving problems related to ending hunger.
  • You’ll receive extra points if your business includes women in the company leadership, and if women are impacted and/or employed through your business.
  • You’ll receive extra points if your business has a Social impact or any contribution to society (I.e. economically, ecologically, or socially)
