Jesse Polenberg, Unites States
Today was a good start to the last week we are here teaching. I was a bit concerned about handling my class on the first day of the week, as my co-teacher was ill. But to my surprise, fewer students were present than usual, and I received help teaching from other volunteers, and so was successful.
It is great both to have a more intimate classroom for the last week, when we already know the students, and to be able to depend so much on other volunteers, who are not obliged to help in this way. It is thus a sympathetic environment at the school, and I think in our classroom one very supportive of the students. They require this to learn and grow. I hope that they continue to as we have seen in our short time here.
Jesse has volunteered at Jusoor’s educational centers in Lebanon during July and August 2018 as part of the summer volunteer program. You can read more posts by our volunteers here.
